Mobile VR Jam Bazaar– I’m just going to come out and say it. Bazaar gave me some serious Aladdin vibes. You ride a carpet through a vibrant colored Arabian city while collecting trinkets by gazing at them. It’s reminiscent of those hidden picture books you read as a child. Scrolls are placed at various points along the sides of the aqueduct, and picking one up starts a mini quest to find an item. The end goal is to reach the Sultan’s Palace at the center of the city.
The controls are solely driven by head movements. You navigate through menus with a simple nod of the head, a mechanic many developers like Nival are now adopting for use in the Gear VR. Used in the right way it works flawlessly and Bazaar does just that. At junctions in the aqueduct, a simple tilt of the head to the left or right will move you in that direction.
The developers are hard at work getting this optimized. I still can’t comprehend how they were able to make such a alluring world run at all on the Note 4 Gear VR, but they pull it off.
