Retailers like Target are getting in the holiday spirit early with a series of 360° short videos on YouTube. The first video in the series is a regular one, titled “The House on Hallow Hill“. In this video, a skeleton goes trick-or-treating. It stops to look at a haunted house, bringing out it’s Samsung smart phone to take a picture. At this point a raven snatches up the phone, and you are tasked with getting your phone back by watching four 360° videos.
I still haven’t figured out how to actually get the phone back, but the four short videos in 360° are very entertaining. In each one, if you pay special attention to your surroundings, you can spot the raven flying around. What’s interesting about these videos is the questions they raise about how hard Target might be pushing the Samsung Gear VR when it is released in November. With about a month to go, could Samsung already be starting their marketing blitz for the Gear VR?
